Our Story

The Stray Hare is a neighborhood barber shop in Waldwick, New Jersey, built on traditional barbering and modern grooming standards.

The Beginning

Where It Started

Adam Reyes founded the shop in Waldwick in 2011, and it has been cutting hair in town for fifteen years. The aim from the start was to offer the craft and community of a classic barbershop while meeting today's grooming standards.

Today the shop on Frederick Street has three barbers: Adam, Jim Harvey, and Denill Grimaud. The shop was known as Virile Barber & Shop until 2026, when it took the name The Stray Hare.

Our Approach

We offer haircuts, fades, beard trims, and straight razor shaves. Every service starts with a conversation about what you want and is adjusted to the person in the chair.

Our barbers treat barbering as a skilled trade and take the time to get each service right.
